Benders Decomposition for Mixed- Integer Hydrothermal Problems by Lagrangean Relaxation
Decomposition models with integer variables usually decompose into a master problem that comprises all the integer variables and subproblems, which evaluate the remaining variables. Subproblems with integer variables introduce additional difficulties and require the use of nonlinear duality theory. In this paper we address the solution of a mixed integer hydrothermal coordination problem combin...
متن کاملFenchel decomposition for stochastic mixed-integer programming
This paper introduces a new cutting plane method for two-stage stochastic mixed-integer programming (SMIP) called Fenchel decomposition (FD). FD uses a class of valid inequalities termed, FD cuts, which are derived based on Fenchel cutting planes from integer programming. First, we derive FD cuts based on both the first and second-stage variables, and devise an FD algorithm for SMIP and establi...
متن کاملDecomposition in Integer Linear Programming
Both cutting plane methods and traditional decomposition methods are procedures that compute a bound on the optimal value of an integer linear program (ILP) by constructing an approximation to the convex hull of feasible solutions. This approximation is obtained by intersecting the polyhedron associated with the continuous relaxation, which has an explicit representation, with an implicitly def...
متن کاملTheory and Applications of N-Fold Integer Programming
We overview our recently introduced theory of n-fold integer programming which enables the polynomial time solution of fundamental linear and nonlinear integer programming problems in variable dimension. We demonstrate its power by obtaining the first polynomial time algorithms in several application areas including multicommodity flows and privacy in statistical databases.
متن کاملDual Decomposition in Stochastic Integer Programming Dual decomposition in stochastic integer programming
We present an algorithm for solving stochastic integer programming problems with recourse, based on a dual decomposition scheme and Lagrangian relaxation. The approach can be applied to multi-stage problems with mixed-integer variables in each time stage. Numerical experience is presented for some two-stage test problems.
